Ioanna holds a BSc. in Geology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece) and an MSc. in Paleontology (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain). Her doctoral research within the SUNDASIA project has two main strands: to produce a reliable calibration curve for radiocarbon dating terrestrial molluscs in the seasonal tropics (under the guidance of Paula Reimer); and to explore patterning in palaeoclimate through oxygen isotope signals in shell-increment analysis (guided by Natalie Ludgate). Her data are being drawn from modern field collection and samples from archaeological sites (c. 5000 to c. 25,000 years ago) within the Tràng An massif.
